As is mentioned in highway90remembered.com, Highway 90 starts in Jacksonville, Florida and ends in West Texas. If you’re heading East, then it begins in West Texas and ends in Jacksonville. Either way, it seems to be a ‘dead end’, since it’s not a true cross-country road, from sea-to-sea. However, all the roads which intersect with Highway 90, along its path, turn it into a tapestry of stories and experiences, similar to any and every other road, and that includes your roads, too! In that respect, all roads become ‘circles’, because they lead us back to where we came!

In the musical stories of Highway 90, as well as the written ones, the landscape changes as we go about our journey. That’s how highways, songs and everyday life come together. They are a mosaic, more intertwined than we sometimes realize. If we start our trip in the East, there are beaches, thriving on the outskirts of a large metropolitan area (Jacksonville, Florida). As we travel through the Florida Panhandle on Highway 90, the road is engulfed in lonesome pines and Blackjack Oaks, populating the rural areas long forgotten. If we travel Highway 90 to its end in West Texas, then the high mountains and the plains meet our gaze. Highway 90 has been called “Route 66 South.” In many ways, Highway 90, like Route 66, is an obscure and replaced thoroughfare. But here in the Bluebird Chronicles, it lives on, to remind us of lives lived and memories still to be made.

The music played here are modern versions of cassette tapes of the original recordings of the vocals, guitar and harmonica. They are performed by ‘My Sheet Music Transcriptions’. My thanks to them for their help and expertise in giving the music a more professional sound!! Last, and surely ‘not least’, thank you, Lara Rodriguez, for your animation skills which illustrate and illuminate some of the hidden stories of Highway 90!
